The climate of Beijing belongs to warm temperate zone semi-humid and semi-arid continental monsoon climate and is characterized by four distinct seasons. Summer and winter are long while spring and autumn are relatively short. When summer comes, it will become hot, humid and rainy, but still relatively cool in the early morning and at night during the period of late August and early September.
